Brand building is rarely a thing of admiration but Ralph Lauren managed to do it right; without loosing (selling) himself.

@Martin: Not sure about the cabinets. @Anjo: Am pretty sure that Tom Ford customers are buying into his name and into his ability curate and edit -- if you're a man who perhaps doesn't not have the refined level of taste that Tom Ford has, perhaps this is one way of making sure you look good. I think the product (what I was able to see of it, at least) is quite nice. Just very, very expensive. @CH: Very nice to have you on the BoF Craig. I hope you'll come back and visit often.

Tom Ford is one of my least favorite people in the fashion industry, first for that trashy sexual obsession of his (sex is fine, but, please, get a room) and more importantly because he isn't really a designer- he's a marketing man masquerading as one. I wonder if there's anything that set the Tom Ford suit apart, other than the label? I feel sorry for the poor (rich) blokes who shell out for one.

I'm glad that you thought my participation on that panel was interesting. Its intriguing to see your thoughts on Ford's business and the connection. I think you're sensing a bit of what we see - the industry is going through serious changes trying to adapt to the current market. I look forward to reading more of your posts. -C

Are the TF consumers happy with the cabinets? I'm curious to know and I don't know anyone who can afford TF.
