there's HARDLY any "classic" beauty left these days, and who's to say these designers aren't inspired by what they see around them? there are far more pressing, complex issues that this new generation is inspired by besides pretty florals and making sure "the lady looks classy". what's wrong with non-traditional, non-"classical" beauty? what's wrong with art inspired by uglyness and pain? good riddance for valentino's retirement, it was about time. i'd hardly call him innovative. he's completely outdated and completely unable to adapt to the modern world

I perfectly agree with Valentino about the lack of creativity in young designers because in their attempts to be "original" and shocking and to attract attention they sometimes miss the essence of fashion and namely that it is art,it is beauty,it is inspiration-something that people admire, but it seems that for them it is more a way to express their dark side by creating scary images coming or from their nightmares or from hospitals with mentally ill people!Society is changing and classical beauty is in rebirth so my advice for young designers is to look a little bit around and try to catch the positive aspects of what they see.

I think it's ironic that Valentino made those stabs at young designers ("little creativity and too much business") when his own style had barely changed since in decades. Ghesquiere, Giles Deacon, Proenza Schouler, Rick Owens... who says there's too little creativity? It's classic old people grumbling about young people. Kids these days!
