I am sooooo over (fill-in-the-blanks) collaborating with Target, H&M, Topshop, etc. It was an exciting idea in the beginning but anyone, and especially someone like Barneys resorting to this gimmick, it is so last last season. No, actually, make that last last last season.

Think of something new! Barneys have always blazed a trail and not a “me too” wannabe. And when you are so late to this game, you don’t want to be slipping on some slimy snail’s trail…

Do you thik Barnet’s will go out of business soon? What about its suppiers is this a good time to ship product to them? Hate to ship and havr them go under and the suppiers holding the bag.

Re the Target collaboration, I dunno, is it the same reason that Rei Kawakubo is teaming up with H&M? To reach out to the next generation of its customers?

This is upsetting :( I would guess that Istithmar knows very little about the fashion business and is pushing for strategic moves which Socol, as an insider, feels to be unwise. If the store does indeed become a ‘basket case’, as you suggest, it will probably be the fault of the new owners.
