I saw qiu hao's designs for the first time last night -- they are truly exquisite and would love to know if anything is available in the US.

I am a journalist based in Shanghai and have been trying to get in contact with Qiu Hao about doing an interview. His store on Jinxian Road is closed up and I was wondering you might be able to help me get in contact. If you can help but want more information about the project, please feel free to contact me at casey@caseywhale.com. Thanks in advance!

Just saw your designs on the Today Show during the Olympics. Do you have a e-commerce website? Where can I purchase your clothing in the USA? I would love to purchase the grey dress and scarf that they showed on the show (8/12/08)/. I love your designs. Thank you, Karen

I just saw your design of a beautiful dress on the Today show from Beijing. Are your clothes available in the United States? And if yes, where can I find them? Are they available over the internet from this site? Your designs are absolutely magnificent! I thank you for your reply. Kathryn

Don't feel bad, because many sites are inaccessible in China and we definitely know it has nothing to do with a lack of quality blog. China has many, many restrictions that block-out a lot of good sites on the internet and other than that it loads very slowly in comparison. You're right Helen does face many of the same challenges as other designers...especially startups. It is becoming increasingly difficult to establish an identity in such a crowded market...fashion and to have your own government breathing down your throat doesn't help much either.

Some very impressive pieces here, though anything that draws too directly on traditional Chinese costume is just an anachronism (as would be excessive reliance on historic Western costume) I really like the more minimalist pieces though. I think the big challenge for Chinese designers in the next decade will be establishing an identity that isn't simply spun off from London or New York, as well as establishing themselves as legitimate arbiters of style. As you noted in your previous post, many Chinese brands rely on outside consultants for the pizzazz. It's a pity the Chinese government won't let anyone see your site :( But I'd encourage you not to pander to them in hopes of approval... as exciting a place as China is, I can't get over the lack of free speech.
