Loved reading that Margiela article, good to know more about him. So sad for for the Halston brand, I want to see them do good, but I guess you need the perfect mix of people to get it right... or maybe they should just leave it alone. I actually like the designs by Vena Cava, nothing ground breaking, but it's something I would wear. I kind of hope Alexander Wang doesn't win, sure his designs have been very influential, but it's not like he invented something completely new. No idea who the other designers are that aren't listed up there, so I'll have to do some exploring!

Regrets to Zanini. I'm told by a few people he and advisor Ms Zoe had a strong falling out, but that's just shop talk.... I love it when Anjo responds to the BoF stories. Great conversation, thanks! Would love to really know what Weinstein is pushing or pulling for, it's still bizarre to think of him as really accepting the so-called rules of the fashion and retail game, and at the same time, I'd love to see a success but I consider this nostalgia brand an unlikely source for that.

It sounds like Halston is on its way to becoming one of those sad brands you find only in duty-free shops. Mr. Weinstein has to understand that fashion isn't like the movies: you can't hire someone and expect him to turn out a blockbuster on the first go. I think retailers and the press are about out of patience with Halston revivals, as well they should be. Mostly I feel bad for Zanini. As to the CFDA/Vogue award, few of these designers stand out as having any kind of identity in their designs. I would guess Alexander Wang will get it, simply because he seems to have momentum; Jason Wu looks like an application for a job at Bill Blass, and I honestly don't understand the hype around Vena Cava. Isn't there anyone more interesting for the CFDA to throw their money at?
