I have to say in terms of street photographing that I have outgrown the idea of only capturing images of those fashionablly affluent and a polarisation of only individuals hoarding, waiting outside the endless circle of fashion weeks. I appreciate greatly what Garance Dore has produced but even for her, she is in the safety net of a faux beautiful Paris. Paris' true beauty is for its ugliness and for those not living in a comfortable lifestyle. I think it's about time someone like Scott matures his photographs by actually travelling far and wide. I'm much more challenged by seeing and learning Helsinki locals from www.hel-looks.com which for me feels more geninue.

It may have an expiration date for sure, but that's what I love about vintage - it's supposed to have a date - that's what makes it good. There's no way to confuse vintage with past season. It IS the past.

thank you! that balmain shoulder - someone had to say it and i'm glad that you did. it's a case of buyer beware. it's sculptural and anecdotal, yes, but it is also stamped with an expiration date for sure.

Fantastic post! I'm so thrilled that you covered Twitter. I am completely addicted to it. Thanks for the Twitter links as well. I've been Twittering for about a year and I have to say that it has really replaced commenting for me on some blogs. This may be a bad thing, but I have too many blogs I like to read.

Please do get a little FLIP camera. They are so easy and portable. I carry mine everywhere because it is much easier to access and use than the video setting on my digital camera. Paired with iMovie, you can really get a fast and decent quality video. Sound is not so great though.

I'm also very enamored with the strong shoulder at Balmain. Being that I love vintage, I am scooping up every 1940s structured jacket I can find to replicate the look.

As usual, your blog post was spot on and insightful.
