Love NOWNESS! They're doing such great things with video. Lily Donaldson's hair whipping in hyper slow-mo was insanely and embarrassingly mind blowing. Another cool round up is http://abovethefraymag.com/videos/8-cat2/200-our-picks-of-the-best-spring-2010-video-lookbooks

The LOVE Thing and the PRADA SS10 fashion films are amazing. I really adore both of them because of they focus more on the product and models but at the same time the music brings great mood. Very fun to watch as well.

the best film was 'Dancer in a Daydream' by Louboutin - very smiley, not too long and makes you happy.
also 'the Love Thing' was good - catchy ;)

I have a blog and I love fashion films. So something that still bothers me a bit is when places like DazedDigital or Nowness (which I think have great content otherwise) don't make it easy for fans to embed their videos! ....'shareability' is something that I feel should be obvious by now.
Anyways, my favorite film was Aanteni hands down!

That LOVE one is the biggest joke ever. So try hard. And that stupid cgi effect is laughable.

The credits are longer than the film - losers.

At least the music was good.

The whole explosion in fashion film has to be one of the most exciting spheres of creativity right how. It's a new commercial art in its infancy. Who will be the new pioneers of fashion in motion? The Avedons, the Baileys, the Bourdins* the Newtons?

It will be interesting to see how the form develops in relation to the commercial needs of luxury brands and the demands of the digital environment. For example, Yang Fudong's ravishing First Spring for Prada asks a lot of the viewer who might be in their quick-fix blog scanning mode, Love's 'commercial' and Meisel's Prada film offer a much more high impact approach.

Our focus shouldn't be just on the high-end brands either. I think some of the creative forces behind more mainstream brands are slightly freer to abandon accepted modes of fashion communication. Here's an example from Wrangler:
http://eu.wrangler.com/bluebell/#/collection

And one from Diesel:
http://www.diesel.com/ahundredlovers/

Both are great bits of film that integrate product in a very slick way, and perhaps most importantly, they're interactive. Such an old fashioned idea!

*As I'm sure many of you know, Guy Bourdin actually did film work in the Seventies, work that has had a huge influence on some of the current fashion film directors. Check out this link over at ShowStudio if you haven't seen Bourdin's movies http://www.showstudio.com/projects/guy/guy_movies.html
