The comment from Bandana about the evolution of Indian fashion designers from taking arts and crafts and just putting them on clothes to actually adapting them and using them in fluidity on the clothes seems to stand out the most for me. The richness and the diversity of the crafts in India needs to be celebrated and promoted - this is done beautifully by some Indian designers. Rajesh Pratap Singh using Ikat prints for example is excellent and celebrates the art form in such beautiful silhouettes - a great example of a designer promoting and supporting traditional arts.

I agree designers should step our of their local markets and show on a world stage. Unfortunately this isn't an option for everyone and as fashion industry professionals we should strive to make it so. Its wonderful that vogue India strives to support their designers as well as just the mainstream. Fashion should not onlybe about who has the biggest advertising budget.

What an incredibly insightful look into the culture of India and the `fusion fashion' that is occuring there. There is no denying that the Indian fashion industry is a force to be reckoned with, this is a country that is enriched in culture and steeped in a history that can only continue to be translated into their fashion choices. I think it's fantastic to see Indian women unabashedly embracing this yet incorporating an element of Western style to create their own eclectic style. It's fabulous.

This is a fantastic up to date account of not only fashion, but the Indian consumer in a global setting. The changing of mindset, wardrobe preferences, willingness to experiment different looks from different cultures...and most importantly the significance of rebranding Indian fashion as more than kitsch, relevant in any city across the globe.
