With an illustrious career spanning over 40 years, Gloria Kalil is widely revered as a prominent figure in the Brazilian fashion industry.
Along with holding the titles of fashion producer, retail distributor, journalist and brand consultant, Kalil has also authored four books covering fashion, style and etiquette. The first book "Chic" was released in 2007, followed by "Chic Man," "Hallo Chics" and "Chic (Errimo)" in 2008 and in 2012 released "Viajante Chic" a historical retelling of Brazil’s past. Kalil also regularly pens blog entries for her prominent fashion and style blog, also named Chic, covering up-to-date news from the fashion industry along with offering styling tips, opinion pieces and trend reviews. Khalil posts video interviews with notable industry insiders from São Paulo and Rio fashion weeks.
Khalil began her career in the early 70’s overseeing the production, distribution and marketing of Italian label Fiorucci, becoming one of the first to distribute a foreign label within Brazil. As exports were prohibited in Brazil during that period, Khalil was charged with overseeing the local manufacturing of the clothes as well as running its retail activities. Khalil held the position for over seventeen years until the label’s dissolution in the late '90s.
