Jimmy Moffat is one of three founding partners and current managing director of Art + Commerce, a talent agency supporting some of the most prominent fashion photographers, stylists, creative directors and makeup artists in the industry. Moffat, along with co-founders Anne Kennedy and Leslie Sweeney, launched the agency in New York in 1980. Their aim was to support photographers and other image makers working within both fine art and commercial industries.
Noted fashion photographers such as Steven Meisel and Cass Bird are represented alongside creative directors Edward Enninful and Alistair McKimm by the agency. It was among the first of its kind, at the time of its founding, to offer comprehensive services to help its artists obtain commissions, create image archives and plan exhibitions. Its roster of other fashion talents has also included renowned stylist Marie-Amélie Sauvé, fashion film director Ruth Hogben and fashion photographer Annie Leibovitz.
In 2015, Moffat also founded Red Hooks Lab, a photography studio and exhibition space through which its founder and executive director supports rising talent in photography through its non-profit programmes and portfolio development.
Moffat lives with his family in Brooklyn, New York, where he has continued to support young talent with the Art + Commerce Festival of Emerging Photographers in 2004 and 2005, an annual public exhibition of unrepresented photographers. He is a member of faculty at the School of Visual Arts in New York.
