Miranda Kerr

Model

The Victoria’s Secret angel was once a Balenciaga exclusive model and has evolved into a spokeswoman, streetstyle superstar and skincare entrepeneur.

Biography

Miranda Kerr has established herself at the very forefront of the modelling world and branched out into business, creating a line of skincare products under her Kora Organics brand. Kerr shot to prominence when she was signed as the first Australian to become a Victoria’s Secret Angel; however, Kerr began modelling as a teenager aged 13.

Born in Sydney, Kerr grew up in a small town named Gunnedah in rural New South Wales. The model told The Daily Telegraph, her childhood was "very grounding... there wasn't any pretentiousness and no one really cared what you were wearing. You could just be you.” Kerr’s first success in the modelling world was winning a nationwide competition put on by Dolly magazine in collaboration with Impulse fragrances. Kerr went on to build strong recognition in the Australian market due to her appearance in Billabong, Tigerlily and Roxy campaigns.

Kerr later moved to New York, where she signed with Next Model Management in 2004. She began her New York career by walking for commercial brands including Baby Phat, Lisa Ho, Levi’s and Rock & Republic. In addition, she appeared in American Elle and Harper’s Bazaar, as well as Australian Vogue. Kerr’s campaign breakthrough came when the model signed an exclusive and lucrative beauty contract with Maybelline New York.

She was signed to become a Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2007, when she replaced Gisele Bündchen. Kerr was already confirmed to become the successor of Alessandra Ambrosio as the face of Pink in 2006. Kerr's popularity continued to increase when she appeared in the Victoria's Secret's 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 televised runway shows, all of which aired in four continents.

In 2010, Balenciaga casting director Ashley Brokaw and Nicolas Ghesquière chose her to walk exclusively for the brand's spring 2010 runway show. It was her first show, aside from Victoria's Secret, since 2007. A season later, she walked for Prada for the Autumn/Winter 2010 collection in Milan, alongside fellow VS Angels Doutzen Kroes and Alessandra Ambrosio. Kerr appeared in campaigns for Prada and Jil Sander , and was shot by Steven Meisel for the cover of Italian Vogue for the magazine’s September issue. Kerr walked for Balenciaga again in 2011, appearing on the runway just two months after giving birth.

Kerr did not renew her Victoria’s Secret contract in 2010, citing her inability to commit to the time obligations required by the brand. She is continued to focus on independent modelling projects and Kora Organics, her skin care line founded in 2010.

In 2014, Kerr was the face of Swedish clothing brand H&M, and appeared on the covers of Vogue Italia, Japan, Taiwan, Australia. From 2014 to 2016, Kerr ranked No. 3, No. 6 and No. 10 on Forbes list of highest earning models earning an estimated $7 million in 2014. She appeared in Love's annual advent calendar in 2015, and fronted Riccardo Tisci 's Spring/Summer Givenchy campaign in 2016.

Kerr has two children with actor Orlando Bloom, and announced her third pregnancy in March 2019.
