Biography

Dan Peres was appointed editor-in-chief of Details in 2000, overseeing the title’s relaunch. To re-establish the magazine as a men’s lifestyle and style authority, Peres brought on board writers Augusten Burroughs, Michael Chabon, Anderson Cooper, Matt McAllester, Simon Dumenco and Rick Moody. Additionally, Peres has commissioned respected photographers like Matt Selliger, Norman Jean Roy, Michael Thompson and Steven Klein.

Under his editorship, the magazine won two ASME Awards for Design. In 2003, Advertising Age named Details as an A-List Magazine. In 2007, Peres authored Details Men’s Style Manual: The Ultimate Guide for Making Your Clothes Work for You, published by Gotham Books.

Peres began his career as a copy boy at The New York Times, whilst still at university in New York where he edited the student paper, The Washington Square Times. Following a research assistant role at Esquire, he spent nine years at W, eventually overseeing the publication’s European bureaus in Paris, Milan and London.

He lives in New York with his wife, Sarah, and their three sons.
