Missing Out on NYFW? Get a Job at one of America's Best Fashion Businesses

As the fashion capital of the world’s largest economy and a melting pot of global culture, the career opportunities in New York are arguably second to none. BoF Careers selects some of the best jobs available in the city today.

NEW YORK, United States — From Cardi B sitting next to Anna Wintour at Alexander Wang, to Tom Ford's LA-inspired sensory overload, Philip Plein's UFO landing and Sies Marjan's iridescent "fashion moment," New York Fashion Week is already in full swing — as are the career opportunities available at many of the brands showing on schedule.

Raf Simons' Calvin Klein show has become the must have ticket of the week, and the all-American brand is currently seeking a director of digital marketing. PVH, the Amsterdam based clothing company which owns Calvin Klein also owns another billion-dollar, resurgent American legacy brand: Tommy Hilfiger. Tommy Hilfiger is now advertising for a number of creative production roles and an associate project manager in its business transformation team.

The longest of the major fashion weeks, and traditionally the commercial heavy-weight of the four capitals, New York continues to dominate in the contemporary and accessible luxury markets, thanks, among others, to Michael Kors, Tory Burch and Ralph Lauren, all of which are currently looking for global talent to join their ranks.

Similarly, the recently formed multi-billion dollar Tapestry Inc., the holding company for the Coach, Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman brands, continues to reposition the Coach brand beyond its mono-brand speciality retailer roots, and is in need of a vice president of product development in its accessories team, among a number of additional roles.

However, despite being the home of so many billion-dollar brands, New York also boasts a burgeoning emerging designer scene, with new names like Sies Marjan, Mansur Gavriel and Rosie Assoulin on the official schedule. All are successfully building their brands on the national and international stage, and all are looking to fill positions in their teams.

Finally, although The Economist expects the American economy to grow at just two percent in 2018, the New York City still boasts some of the most productive and profitable retail locations in the world, as well as some of the industry's best-known retail brands, including Bergdorf Goodman and Barney's New York, the latter of which is currently advertising for a vice president of product management and a mens' accessories buyer, among others.
