Luxury goods firms lustre may fade, not vanish in 2013 (Reuters)
"Luxury goods manufacturers won't retain the immunity from tough global economic conditions they've enjoyed for the past two years in 2013, but they'll still grow and hang on to their decent credit metrics, said Standard & Poor's Ratings Services today."

Betsey Johnson, Back in the Pink (NY Times)
"Despite repeated pleas, Betsey Johnson would not sit still. The tiny 70-year-old designer — legendary in the fashion world for ending her runway shows with cartwheels and a split — paced nervously in her small studio on West 37th Street in Manhattan, crammed with hot-pink vintage knickknacks and a rainbow of tulle skirts that hung from the ceiling."

Rad Hourani invited to present haute couture in Paris (Montreal Gazette)
"Rad Hourani is "over the moon" with the news that he has been invited to show on the Parisian haute couture calendar as a guest of the Chambre syndicale de la haute couture. It's a first in fashion history on two counts: Not only is Hourani the first Canadian so honoured, but it is also the first time a unisex collection will be presented as part of the elite lineup, in January."

V&A To Celebrate London's Eighties Clubwear (Vogue.co.uk)
"The Victoria & Albert's museum's major summer 2013 exhibition will look at how London's Eighties club scene had a revolutionising impact on the international fashion world. Over 85 outfits by designers such as John Galliano and Vivienne Westwood will be displayed, alongside clubwear worn at the time."

Dream Memes: Fashion Gets Funny in 2012 (Fashionologie)
"Perry Ellis once said that "fashion dies when it is taken too seriously," but if the social commentary the industry has gotten this year is any indication, there's no danger of that happening anytime soon. In fact, if the memes spawned in 2012 say anything, it's that the public's interest in fashion has never been so high."
