Miu Miu's Youthful Vibrancy

Despite the slightly perverse transparent plastic setting, Miuccia Prada's collection for Miu Miu was a rainbow of youthful, optimistic, and sweet-sporty pieces easily imagined on a range of young Hollywood starlets, writes Jessica Michault for Nowfashion.com.

PARIS, France — There is just something so naughty, even slightly perverse about transparent plastic.  So when the entire entrance, stairs included, of the Miu Miu show venue was covered in the material it was easy to imagine that designer Miuccia Prada had some sort of subversive, sensual show in store.

But instead of leaning towards an aesthetic that Rihanna, who was sitting front row, would have favoured, Prada took a youthful, almost girly slant this season: perky pieces in bright colours that perhaps dovetailed more closely with the tastes of freshly minted Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o, who also attended the show.

This was such a good natured collection that it was easy to imagine ingénue Elle Fanning feeling right at home in some short quilted skirts or t-shirt dresses and lightly padded jackets in pastel colours. The “Blue is the Warmest Color” actresses Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux would probably favor the show's darker, slightly oversized knit collared coats, boxy jackets and long haired furs. While starlet Margot Robbie’s new chocolate brown locks would be set off nicely against the collection's primary colour granny-knit sweaters or '60s graphic print dresses. As for the wide eyed beauty Elizabeth Olsen, she would have no problem pulling off any one of Prada’s shimmering pastel brocade ensembles.

And each of these up-and-coming leading ladies, who all attended the Miu Miu show on Wednesday (along with the token male star, Oscar winner Jared Leto) would probably delight in trying out a pair of the Miu Miu's plastic rain boot high heels. Perhaps even going as far as to pair them with one of Prada's candy coloured raincoats.

These young, vibrant, talented women are the embodiment of what Prada wants the Miu Miu brand to represent in fashion. This time she gave them just the right wardrobe to dress the part in real life.
