Agenda-setting intelligence, analysis and advice for the global fashion community.
LONDON, United Kingdom — With Frieze touching down in London this week, there was no rest for the fashion set. Everyone from Chanel to Giorgio Armani to Mugler hosted events in and around the world famous art fair, piggybacking on one of the buzziest weeks in the city's social scene.
But I was particularly proud of Edgardo Osorio, who hosted a dinner to celebrate the opening of his London flagship on Mayfair's Albemarle Street, a major milestone for his brand — Aquazzura — which was first featured on BoF as part of our Spotlight series back in February 2012. Since then his start-up label has grown into a fully-fledged business, turning over more than 10 million euros a year, with flagships in London and Florence, and another one on the cards for New York.
Edgardo is not the only BoF Spotlight designer making industry waves, however. Demna Gvasalia, who heads up the design collective at fast-rising label Vetements, was featured in our BoF Spotlight last May. In a short space of time, he has become one of the industry's most watched — and most influential — designers and, of course, was recently named artistic director of Balenciaga, one of the industry's most revered houses.
Then there is Saloni Lodha, whose clothes are seen on everyone from London's top socialites to Caitlyn Jenner; Yang Li, who recently sold a minority stake in his brand; Alexander Lewis who hosted his first on-schedule presentation at London Fashion Week; Brother Vellies, which is nominated for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund; and Huishan Zhang, whose designs are selling through at impressive rates at Lane Crawford and Barneys New York.

We are proud of all of these designers for their recent business and creative momentum, which, in turn, advances the entire industry. If you think your label should be considered for an upcoming BoF Spotlight, please introduce yourself with a link in the comments below, or contact us here.
