SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — US agents in Puerto Rico have seized nearly 10,000 counterfeit products imitating the brands of Apple, Cartier, Gucci, BMW, Porsche and others in one of the biggest seizures of its kind on the island. Authorities say the products are worth more than $1.6 million and include jewellery, car parts, medical equipment and electronics.

US Customs and Border Protection said Wednesday that the items were seized as part of a weeklong operation at Puerto Rico's main international airport with help from other federal agencies. Officials said vendors in China shipped the products. No one has been fined in the case. The seizure comes months after officials seized 10,000 counterfeit Barbie dolls that had arrived from China.
