LONDON, United Kingdom — Mark Sebba, the former chief executive of Net-a-Porter, passed away at the age of 69 on Monday, according to a statement released by his family. The industry leader is survived by his wife, Anne Sebba, three children and five grandchildren.
As the head of luxury fashion e-tailer Net-a-Porter for more than a decade from 2003 to 2014, Sebba oversaw the company's start-up and growth phase — including the launch of off-price site The Outnet, men's site Mr Porter and the magazine Porter — with founder Natalie Massenet. In 2010, when Richemont acquired a 93 percent interest in the business, the company was valued at £350 million.
When he stepped down in 2014, Net-a-Porter’s staff honoured Sebba with an elaborate musical and choreographed send-off that became a viral video.
After Net-a-Porter, Sebba took on several board positions at companies inside and outside the fashion industry, including the plus-size women's fast-fashion retailer Eloquii and the London-based wholesale flower delivery site Flowerbx. In addition, Sebba served as both a trustee of London's Victoria & Albert Museum and as chairman of its business arm. He was also a non-executive director at a private equity firm, LMS Capital.
