Dazed Media names editorial director
Bunny Kinney has been appointed editorial director of Dazed Media and Nowness, BoF can exclusively reveal. Formerly i-D’s commercial creative director, Kinney will oversee the digital growth of all the company's brands including Dazed, AnOther and Another Man, with a focus on video channel Nowness.
TCS appoints US president and sustainability director
The Communications Store has named Emma Paton president of its US office. Paton joins the company from Shopbop and East Dane, where she served as global brand marketing and communications director. The strategic communications agency has also welcomed Esther Maughan McLachlan as senior director, purpose and sustainability. Maughan McLachlan brings 20 years’ experience to the role; most recently she was communications director at NGO Forum for the Future.
Estée Lauder announces leadership changes
Estée Lauder Companies’ global brand president Daniel Annese has announced plans to retire in January 2019; prior to his retirement he will take on a new role leading the international expansion of Smashbox, Glamglow and Becca. Fabrice Weber has been promoted to president, prestige and artisanal fragrances and ELC ventures, with Mark Loomis succeeding him as president, Asia-Pacific, while Patrice Béliard has been named senior vice president, global general manager, Aramis and designer fragrances. All appointments are effective January 1, 2018.
Christopher Bailey to step down from Burberry helm
Christopher Bailey will exit Burberry after 17 years with the company. The designer will remain in his post as president and chief creative officer of the brand until March 31, 2018, when he will step down from the board. Bailey will design the house’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection, leaving the business in December after a period of transition.
Uniqlo founder Tadashi Yanai to retire
Fast Retailing president Tadashi Yanai announced plans to retire when he turns 70 in 2019. He will continue to support the company he founded in 1963, as chairman, telling Nikkei Asian Review: "there is no such thing as retirement for founders." Yanai's successor has not yet been named.
Mytheresa.com hires commercial chief
Luxury e-tailer Mytheresa.com has appointed Richard Johnson as chief commercial officer. He joins the company from MatchesFashion, and has also held senior positions at Harvey Nichols and the Al Tayer Group. Buying manager Tiffany Hsu has been promoted to fashion buying director, and will report directly to Johnson.
Elle UK appoints deputy editor and fashion features director
Kenya Hunt has been named Elle UK’s deputy editor and fashion features director. The new dual title will see Hunt take on a fashion-focused role that reflects the magazine’s new brand strategy, working closely alongside editor-in-chief Anne-Marie Curtis.
Elle US hires executive editor
Emma Rosenblum has been appointed executive editor at Elle US, a new position that will see her work closely with editor-in-chief Nina Garcia. Rosenblum joins the publication from Bloomberg, where she served as editorial director of its luxury-lifestyle magazine Pursuits. Cosmopolitan's Katie Connor will also join the title as deputy editor. Both appointments are effective November 6.
