Glossier appoints CFO
Following the close of a $100 million funding round, Glossier has appointed Vanessa Wittman as chief financial officer. Prior to joining Glossier, Wittman was chief financial officer at media conglomerate Oath. She replaces company veteran Henry Davis, who stepped down from the role late last year.
Dan Peres to edit Gawker
Bustle Digital Group has announced the appointment of Dan Peres to editor-in-chief of recent acquisition Gawker.com, effective April 1. Peres, who served as editor-in-chief of Condé Nast's Details for 15 years, is expected to relaunch the site later this year.
Condé Nast Germany names managing director
Condé Nast International has appointed Jessica Peppel-Schulz as managing director of Condé Nast Germany, effective March 27. Peppel-Schulz was previously chief executive of German digital agency United Digital Group. Replacing Moritz von Laffert, she reports to Wolfgang Blau, president of Condé Nast International.
Harper's Bazaar Arabia appoints editor-in-chief
Salma Awwad has been named editor-in-chief of Harper's Bazaar Arabia. Prior to her appointment, which she begins March 27, Awwad was running her namesake fashion and consultancy brand Sawwad. She replaces Louise Nichol, whose last issue was October 2018. The role has since been filled by interim acting editor Emily Baxter-Priest.
How To Spend It editor departs
Gillian de Bono, editor of Financial Times luxury magazine How To Spend It, is stepping down from her position in the summer of 2019. De Bono's career at the Financial Times spans 25 years, initially joining the newspaper in 1994 to set up its magazine department.
Elle UK editor to depart
After 15 years at the title and two at its helm, Elle UK's editor-in-chief Anne-Marie Curtis will exit the magazine after completing her next issue, the June edition. The editor announced the news on Instagram. Curtis succeeded Lorraine Candy in 2017.
British Vogue hires digital director
British Vogue has appointed Anne-Marie Tomchak to the newly created role of digital director. Tomchak joins the publication with immediate effect from Mashable, where she was UK editor-in-chief. She reports to British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful and Condé Nast Britain chief digital officer, Simon Gresham Jones.
Tom Ford announced as CFDA chair
The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has voted in Tom Ford as its chairman, effective January 1, 2020. The appointment concludes a three-year search for Diane von Furstenberg's successor, after the fashion designer held the position for 13 years.
Under Armour names chief design officer
Under Armour has appointed Kasey Jarvis chief design officer. Jarvis, who is expected to assume the role in April, joins the company from his position as design director at Black Diamond, a climbing equipment manufacturer. He will report to chief product officer Kevin Eskridge.
Diesel CEO to exit company
Marco Agnolin will step down as chief executive of Diesel, effective March 28. The announcement of Agnolin's departure follows news that the company's US subsidiary filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. According to an internal source, he will continue to serve on Diesel's board.
