Power Moves | Thierry Andretta Leaves Lanvin, Michèle Huban to Take the Reins

PARIS, France — Thierry Andretta has stepped down as the managing director of Lanvin, a position he held since 2009. Michèle Huban, Lanvin's current chief operating officer, will assume Andretta's duties.

Andretta joined the brand in 2008 as an executive vice president and was instrumental in the expansion of Lanvin’s global retail footprint.

During his tenure, Andretta also made Lanvin's leather goods business a strategic focus, with the aim of extending the level of distinction that creative director Alber Elbaz brought to the label's womens ready-to-wear collections into accessories.

A Lanvin spokesperson cited ‘personal reasons’ as the cause of Andretta’s departure. But according to market sources, there had been disagreements between the executive and the brand’s majority owner, Shaw-Lan Wang, about Lanvin’s future.

In 2009, Wang sold a 12.5 percent interest in Lanvin’s parent company, Arpège SAS, to the European family headed by Ralph Bartel, which in 2012 raised their stake in the company to 25 percent.

Before joining Lanvin, Andretta worked in senior positions at Ungaro, Céline, Moschino and Gucci Group, where he was president for emerging brands. He will continue to serve as the president of France's Chambre Syndicale for menswear.
