M3/Relativity Appoints Mark Weber
Chief executive of LVMH Inc. USA and chairman and chief executive of Donna Karan International, Mark Weber has been appointed to a new role at media firm M3/Relativity. The role will see the executive advise the media company on fashion focused investment opportunities and ways to develop emerging fashion talent. Weber said, “I’ve always been deeply fascinated by the entertainment industry, and especially interested in how the potential intersection might work between fashion and media. M3/Relativity are one-of-a-kind, given their approach of leveraging Relativity Media’s multibillion-dollar entertainment platform against the fashion industry." M3/Relativity president Mitch Grossbach said, “[Weber's] incredible knowledge, decades of working experience running big fashion companies, a vast Rolodex of relationships from retail to sourcing and manufacturing and production, to other areas, can really help us.”
Yahoo Builds Out Editorial Team for Fashion Site
Yahoo has announced a number of hires for its 'digital magazine'. They will assist newly appointed editor-in-chief Joe Zee in launching the tech company's first foray into fashion media. Dora Fung, previously beauty director of CR Fashion Book, was announced as the title's market director, whilst Nick Axelrod and Andrea Oliveri, of Into the Gloss and Details respectively, have joined as contributing editors. Bifen Xu, who joins from a production role at W magazine, will head up special projects. Sarah Cristobal, who exited her role as editor of V Magazine,has joined Yahoo Style as editor.
Into the Gloss Hires Henry Davis
Emily Weiss, chief executive and now sole founder at the beauty website Into The Gloss has hired Henry Davis as chief operating officer. Davis joins the website from Index Ventures, a London based private equity firm. "ITG is the first full-time startup job I have taken (I have been advisor to some and interned at others). The fact that it was Into the Gloss that captured my imagination in startup land speaks to how much I believe in Emily, the team and the opportunity the company has to be a true game-changer in a massive industry," commented Davis.
Gilt Groupe Co-founder Named President of Glamsquad
Gilt Groupe co-founder Alexandra Wilkis Wilson has been announced as president and chief executive officer of Glamsquad, an on-demand beauty service app. The former chief executive officer and co-founder Victoria Eisner will stay at the company, assuming the role of executive vice president and chief creative officer. Jason Perri, also at the company and one of Eisner's co-founders told press, "[Wilson] is a well-known and highly respected pioneer in e-commerce, and her expertise will help guide the next stage of Glamsquad’s evolution into a robust beauty marketplace and lifestyle portal.”
