Power Moves | Yasmin Sewell Joins Farfetch, Hearst Hires From Vogue

This week, Yasmin Sewell joins Farfetch as vice president of style and creative, while Hearst appoints former Vogue managing editor Jon Gluck as executive director.

Farfetch hires Yasmin Sewell
Farfetch has named Yasmin Sewell vice president of style and creative. The newly created role will see the fashion consultant lead the platform's global editorial and creative teams. Most recently, Sewell held the post of fashion director at Condé Nast's Style.com, which was abandoned following the announcement last month of a new commerce partnership between the publishing house and the Farfetch platform.

Hearst hires from Vogue
Hearst Magazines has appointed Jon Gluck as executive director, editorial talent, development and special projects, effective September 5. In this newly created role, the former American Vogue managing editor will oversee senior-level editorial recruitment and magazine development. He succeeds Eliot Kaplan, vice president, talent acquisition, who announced plans to retire earlier this year after 18 years at the publishing house.

Ariel Foxman named chief brand officer at Olivela
The former editorial director of InStyle and StyleWatch has been appointed chief brand officer at Olivela, a luxury fashion e-commerce platform built on a "philanthropic retail" model. Foxman, who will begin his new role on August 21, consulted for Olivela on branding and content strategy in the run up to its launch in June.

Executive appointments at Bottega Veneta
Kering-owned fashion house Bottega Veneta has appointed Meenal Mistry to the newly created role of senior director, global editorial content and copy. Mistry, who begins the role on August 21, will oversee social media, editorial and brand narratives. The brand also named Kristen Campbell senior vice president of global marketing; she is looking to build a team strongly focused on digital and social media advertising.

Laird + Partners hires from Estée Lauder
Creative agency Laird + Partners has appointed Gustaf Törling as senior vice president, executive creative director. Törling joins the New York-based agency from Estée Lauder Companies, where he served as vice president of global creative for Origins. He marks the first senior hire since Patrick Yee was appointed chief executive in March.

Finery names CEO
British high street brand Finery has hired John Hind as chief executive, effective August 14. Most recently Hind served as interim CEO of British contemporary label ME+EM. He succeeds Nickyl Raithatha, co-founder of the brand, who will take up a board position; Raithatha will continue to remain involved with the business in an advisory capacity and as a shareholder.

Sunday Times Style magazine hires Verity Parker
The Sunday Times Style magazine has appointed Verity Parker as associate fashion director. Parker joins the publication from British Vogue, where she served as fashion editor since 2015. Prior to that, she worked as a freelance stylist.

InStyle Germany fashion director exits
InStyle Germany's fashion director Jan-Michael Quammie has exited the publication. Quammie has worked at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York, Net-a-Porter in Shanghai and MyTheresa in Munich. She will now pursue freelance styling, creative direction and brand consulting.
