LONDON, United Kingdom — Earlier this week, LVMH confirmed the sale of Donna Karan to G-III Apparel Group, an unexpected move by the French luxury conglomerate, which rarely sells its brands. Chairman and CEO of LVMH's fashion group Pierre-Yves Roussel talked to BoF about the thinking behind the sale.

Meanwhile, Thakoon is gearing up for a direct-to-consumer reboot backed by Bright Fame Fashion, the Hong Kong-based investment vehicle led by Vivian Chou, daughter of billionaire fashion mogul Silas Chou. Theory, too, is turning to direct retail for its first handbag and accessories collection, set to launch next month.

In other news, this week, global youth media juggernaut Vice acquired Starworks Group, continuing its strategic push into fashion… According to Angelo Flaccavento, reflecting on digital's influence on fashion, the Internet is so bad it's awesome. Something to think about over the weekend.
