London

Our London office is located in Old Street, London's tech hub, home to a broad range of teams including Commercial, Marketing, and Product. We have large open plan spaces and a feature staircase connecting our 3 floors, encouraging our collaborative and open culture. We also have a big outdoor terrace where we can have lunch and host social events when the sun comes out!

About the role

We are looking for a unique individual who is talented in creating systematic and automated processes and tools for reporting data and insights across the Farfetch group. You will have a huge impact and take our BI to the best in class system.

You will be a person that thrives in solving complex problems in a fast paced environment balancing tactical needs whilst driving strategically for a long term solution.

What you'll do

  • Take ownership of key data sources that are used across the Farfetch group
  • Ensure strict governance of this data by monitoring performance and driving best practices, for both existing and future developments
  • Be methodical and structured to develop and maintain processes and documentation
  • Leverage your attention to detail to ensure high quality and rigour
  • Ensure that solutions are robust and built for scale
  • Identify gaps and turn them into implementable solutions
  • Drive agile ways of working to ensure continuous progress and iteration
  • work cross-functionally with a range of stakeholders across the business


Who you are

  • You have a BSC in computer science, engineering, information systems or other highly quantitative field
  • You are advanced in SQL
  • You are detail-oriented with a demonstrably high standard for data accuracy and documentation
  • You focus on building for scale and automation
  • You are an expert in manipulating large data sets in a professional environment
  • You are a strong communicator regardless of format (email, documentation, presentation, discussion)
  • You are able to collaborate with both commercial and technical stakeholders (technical product managers, development leads)
  • You have experience with data visualisation tools
  • You have experience leading a Business Intelligence or software engineering team from the ground-up, preferably in a startup role

  • Kubernetes, Docker and Airflow to schedule and run our services
  • Python to develop microservices and bespoke tooling
  • Snowflake/BigQuery for our data warehouse
  • Databricks to empower our Data Science teams
  • Looker for visualization and self-serve analytics
  • dbt for ETL orchestration
  • Kafka for our asynchronous message queue
  • Terraform for cloud orchestration on GCP / Azure


About the department

Fully aligned to our Marketing, Product, Private Client and Customer Insight verticals, the Reporting Solutions team is part of a vision to build a highly autonomous and empowered central data function that moves fast to rapidly deliver impact on some of our most challenging and high visibility projects.

To achieve this we are building a full stack of capabilities, from managing our own infrastructure, creating data pipelines, to rolling out bespoke data products, all with the goal of unlocking significant value across a wide variety of initiatives.

Working collaboratively as a team and with our business colleagues, both here in London and across our other locations, you'll be shaping the technical direction of a critically important part of Farfetch.

This is the ultimate role for the detail-orientated engineer!

Your opportunities to develop range from working directly with data engineers to grow technically, as well as working alongside stakeholders across the group to grow commercially.
