Accounting Manager

As a dynamic and entrepreneurial spirited Accounting Manager, reporting to the Senior Controller, you will be responsible for managing a team of 3, while performing accounting duties for our subsidiaries in four different countries, our retail stores, while analyzing month-end, and reconciling intercompany transactions.

Some of What You’ll Do:

• Manage a team of 3, including realignment of tasks and responsibilities of team members
• Accounting for the Canadian, European, US, and Asian companies as well as others as the company continues to grow
• Accounting for retail stores, including ensuring proper set up of accounts for opening of new stores; accounting for wholesale operations
• Reconciliation of data between operating, POS, accounting and reporting systems
• Month-end close including update of files, elimination entries, and delivery of consolidated financial statements
• Critical analytical review of month-end results; assessment of general ledger activity ensuring appropriate allocation of revenues and expenses and variance analysis, including gross margin
• Review of monthly sales tax returns including Canadian, US and European filings
• Review of a variety of commission and management fee calculations 
• Reconciliation of intercompany transactions and review of bank reconciliations
• Preparation of year-end and governmental audit files and assistance to auditors
• Maintenance and update of chart of accounts for all new outlets and stores; critical reassessment of CoA structure as company continues to grow
• Key contributor in implementation of new reporting tool and improvement in month-end close
• Miscellaneous adhoc analyses, collaboration with other departments and a variety of special projects as required by Management
• Driver in implementation of key internal controls 
• Preparation of analyses for inclusion in reporting package prepared for Board of Directors meetings

Some of What You’ll Need:

• CPA designation a must; prior experience in Accounting firm an asset
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role managing staff, leading month-end close, and preparation of consolidated financial statements
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a finance role
• Advanced Excel user
• Professional English, proficient in French 
• Comfortable with technology, prior experience with Great Plains and Momentis an asset
• Strong time management skills and the ability to juggle many different tasks
• Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
• Strong people skills, good communicator, and a team player
• Experience in accounting for retail operations is an asset
• Takes initiative in recommending solutions as issues arise in a timely manner for discussion with Supervisor
• Results-driven, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, including sense of urgency in delivering month-end results
