Engineering Manager

We're seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team in our Consignor group. You'll build technology supporting consignors who sell their goods with The Real Real - and all of our employees who support them such as Luxury Managers, Sales, Business Development, and our retail stores!  You'll also integrate with technology from around the company to improve consignor-related operations. You'll be exposed to the latest technology, a data-driven culture, while surrounded by a friendly, helpful team.

• Managing a team of software engineers delivering microservices and customer-facing features for our consignors.
• Collaborate with product, sales, business stakeholders, and other engineering teams on roadmaps, timelines, and technical solutions.
• Mentor and share knowledge you guide engineers to turn high level requirements into meaningful features
• Recruit and retain talent in a highly competitive market with the ability to lead teams during periods of high uncertainty and to manage risks from conceptual design to project execution
• Fostering a highly performant culture through mentorship, development, and support for engineers, teams and processes
• Set clear goals for individuals and teams to drive collaborative results
• Anticipate and prevent issues around team communication, performance, interpersonal dynamics and ownership before they occur
• Present technical issues and their impact to management making them aware of risks and tradeoffs

What You Bring To The Role

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering.
• A MINIMUM of 1+ years managing software developers in a dynamic environment
• Experience with Elixir, Phoenix, or Ruby
• Salesforce knowledge and experience is a plus, in our stack this is relevant to solving critical business problems
• Strong understanding of distributed systems design, database fundamentals and experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL desired
• Knowledgeable about modern back-end technologies and excited to learn new ones
• Familiarity with web technologies: HTML5, Javascript, CSS/SASS, REST, JSON
• Mastery of git and Github workflows
• Prior logistics or reverse logistics and or Ecommerce experience desired
• Proven track record of delivering highly scalable, secure enterprise-grade software in a SaaS model
• Product minded, your commitment to building a simple, clean user experience which includes application uptime and responsiveness is how you roll
• Ambiguity doesn't scare you, as you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, high-growth environment
• Familiar with AWS and/or other cloud platforms
• You are an expert in working in agile methodology
• Knowledge of information security and its role in web and mobile applications is desirable
• Track record of continuing professional development to keep abreast of latest developments relevant to discipline and industry
• Passion, drive, commitment and tenacity in leading via influencing
• Must possess excellent oral and written documentation skills
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
