MAIN PURPOSE

Ensure the timely submission of monthly management reporting to RLG (MEIA) and that the general ledger, sub-ledgers, and other financial records and schedules are accurately maintained. Develop procedures and accurate implementation of the recording, classifying, and summarizing of daily financial transactions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reporting to Head of Finance
  • Full financial reporting function for RLG Africa. Ensuring high accuracy of accounting records.
  • Managing the company's financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems
  • Managing Finance Department staff - direct reports
  • Being a key point of contact for the business for all internal finance/accounting queries, and to maintain a strong working relationship with the Brands. (HQ & Local)
  • Ensuring the finance team provides excellent service to the business
  • Completing and submitting the Income Tax returns, Provisional Tax & VAT returns
  • Assisting the HOF with all SARS related queries/reviews/audits on tax, customs & transfer pricing
  • Review and sign off all payments
  • Ensuring timely payment of all suppliers
  • Ensuring timely collection of debtors
  • Managing the year-end audit process and preparing AFS
  • Monthly reconciliation of sales/stock management system to SAP
  • Full review and management of internal controls around staff credit cards and expense claims
  • Reviewing and approving all accounting journals, and accounting reconciliations.
  • Supervising and managing the stock count process
  • Ensuring all controls are followed on a monthly basis for key control areas and compliant with group internal audit standards
  • Producing accurate financial reports to specific deadlines;
  • Assisting with budgets; and input on business decisions
  • Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation e.g. IFRS 16
  • Developing and maintaining external relationships with appropriate contacts e.g. auditors, bankers, business support partners and SARS
  • Approval of new suppliers and customers

Key Competencies
  • Good knowledge of monthly reporting tasks
  • Strong analytical skills to analyse operational aspects of finance and business
  • Computer skills - extensive knowledge of MS Office products (especially Excel) and proficient using SAP
  • Good communication skills and fluent in English - oral and written
  • High degree of autonomy and motivation
  • Capable of dealing with demanding deadlines
  • Ethics, rigour and organisational skills
  • Very good interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude, curiosity and a taste for challenges

    Education:
    CA(SA), Accounting Honours Degree or equivalent, in Finance & Accounting (completed 3 Articles will be advantageous).

    Required experience:

    Fluency in both written and spoken English;
    External and/or Internal Audit experience would be a plus;
    Experience in month end reporting processes would be advantageous;
    Experience in a retail business would be advantageous;
    Good knowledge of IFRS and tax regulations;
    A reasonable understanding of IT systems and SAP will be useful;
    3 - 5 years of experience, preferable with a multinational company
