JOB DESCRIPTION

Zalando creates the first fashion platform where brands get to authentically present their products and brand stories. Different from other marketplaces, brand storytelling is incorporated into our customers' browsing and shopping experiences

As a Principal Product Manager (m/w/d) for the Brand Home team you will be based in either Berlin or Helsinki depending on your preference and work collaboratively with multiple teams and multiple roles within your team, across Zalando's different sites. You will embark on the mission to provide brands with a stage to tell their stories about their products and themselves. You will be at the forefront of how we define, own and build the experience that fulfils Zalando's brand promise on building brand equity in a best-in-class multi-brand environment. We need you as a key player in driving select consumer and brand experiences.

WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
  • You shape the team's vision and strategy, translate them into a tactical roadmap and deliver something superior and impactful for our brands and end consumers
  • You drive product development in a cross functional autonomous development team, merging a combination of Design Thinking and Lean Startup methods (what we call the "4Ds")
  • You will understand deeply how our brands work, what information they need, what brand stories they want to tell, to present all their facets on Zalando and build their brand equity
  • You are highly analytical and can tell stories with data. You know how to quickly model assumptions and can demonstrate impact through clear KPIs
  • You identify and align competing priorities and manage a portfolio of global and local initiatives in close collaboration with Designers and Engineers
  • You provide direction, protection and order to the entire team as part of Product leadership, working closely with the Engineering Lead
  • You help us master our product culture across Zalando by developing and hiring product talent and facilitating product processes that create remarkable impact for our customers at scale, ultimately building The Starting Point for Fashion

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Product Manager, with experience in software development
  • Curiosity, humbleness, passion, and customer-centricity
  • Proactive, self-starter who sees a need, communicates the need and intent, gathers the team, and solves it
  • Strong enough at standard product methodologies, stakeholder management, and analytical thinking to do it yourself and coach others
  • Real agile working, collaboratively with Product / UX / Engineering
  • An analytical mind, able to break down complex problems with logical and easy to understand frameworks, paired with the ability to identify, retrieve, and process the needed data
  • An incredibly capable writer and verbal communicator. You know the right level of detail needed to communicate with a range of audiences
  • Experience working with distributed teams is a plus
