About the role

The Consumer Insights function at Gap Inc. is a critical part of defining our path forward. Through rigorous analyses, creative thinking, and deep partnership with the business, we develop a customer-focused strategic direction for our company. The Insights team reports to the Head of Data and Analytics and into the Chief Digital & Technology Officer and provides strategic support to our CEO and Brand and Functional Leadership Teams.

As a Sr. Analyst, you will play a critical role in driving strategic consumer insights programs and projects that support Athleta and Gap Inc brands' priorities, growth, and long-range plans. This role is part of the Brand Lead team at Athleta and will be primarily focused on delivering insights and influencing strategic initiatives for our brand partners. You will help to influence the business through primary and secondary research including research via our proprietary customer panel, Net Promoter tracking program, as well as ad hoc research projects to inform better decision-making around the product, marketing, experience, and innovation. By uncovering what consumers want, why they want it, and how to best meet their needs, you will help to deliver on the ongoing transformation to more customer-centric decision-making in the business. Role exposes you to a variety of areas including digital/store/omni-shopping experience, brand/digital marketing, apparel product, and strategy.

What you'll do

  • Develop surveys, moderate online, analyze, & deliver compelling findings and recommendations within Athleta and Gap Inc.
  • Skilled at conducting quantitative research and analyses (survey design, programming, analysis, and reporting) as well as qualitative research and analyses (e.g., question design, synthesizing open-ended responses into themes)
  • Analyze existing primary and secondary research to uncover fact-based insights
  • Synthesize disparate information into effective strategies and innovative insights, translating complex ideas into compelling, actionable recommendations and data visuals
  • Manage a regular cadence of reporting and analysis for the widely-used Brand Health program
  • Support cross-functional workstreams; able to effectively manage multiple projects
  • Collaborate across the data and analytics team and other key functions to enhance insights and create a holistic view of the customer

Who you are

  • 3-5+ years professional experience in Marketing Research, Consumer Insights, Strategy/Strategic Management consulting, and/or Analysis
  • A strategic & analytical mind with proven experience applying structure to answer complex questions and able to synthesize information into a clear, simple story, and visualize data
  • Experience applying foundational statistical concepts, statistical software experience strongly preferred (e.g. SPSS, SAS, JMP, SQL)
  • Experience programming & analyzing surveys using online survey platforms (e.g. Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey)
  • Experience partnering with/ managing research vendors to execute projects (or experience working at an insights research vendor)
  • Positive attitude, scrappy 'get the job done'/can-do-anything, creative problem-solver that collaborates effectively with others
