JOB SUMMARY

The goal of this Planning function is to set up all relevant processes and drive the business through strategic merchandise planning, inventory management, action oriented reporting and insightful analysis. We achieve this by creating a world class planning team that connects well cross functionally and contributes to broader strategic and resource planning conversations across the company.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Planner, Corporate Merchandise Planning at Tory Burch is responsible for supporting the Global Merchant category owner with the development of the Global Product Assortment and ensures that it aligns with the financial targets of our brand. Merchandise Planning establishes financial targets by category/class for Sales, GM, receipts and inventory. The role works with the Global Merchandising team to analyze, identify, and communicate sales and inventory opportunities and providing risk-mitigation recommendations. Also, partners with Global Business Units to communicate assortment strategies and recap investments.

The team is responsible for managing planning calendars to support key financial deliverables. The team is also responsible for the development of planning process and systems and works closely with IT on development. The team drives the data standardization initiatives to develop key product attributes. In addition, the team works to identify, define, and standardize how the company analyzes and reports on the business.

To excel in the position this person must have strong analytical skills, specifically in Excel, and be proficient in retail math, formula writing and pivot tables. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and established planning experience, (preferably within a business channel such as retail or ecommerce), creative problem solving skills, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment

  • Communicate financial results and action plans to management and cross-functional team on a weekly basis
  • Analyze historical data and current trends to identify risks and opportunities by department and category
  • Provide hindsight analysis and partner with Merchandising on future product positioning and opportunities
  • Create category guidance in partnership with global merchants that align with our Long Range Plan for Sales, Margin, IMU%, AIR and AUR
  • Global Product Hindsight in partnership with Global Merchants
  • Process of minimum order quantities (MOQ global)
  • Global Markdown Strategy
  • Partner with regional teams on global Key Item Planning for production needs
  • Strategic Category launch decks for seasonal plans in partnership with Global Merchants
  • Exit strategy inventory management, communication, and execution
  • Establish end to end category management
  • Assisting Marketing with the definition of monthly core marketing messages based on global investments
  • Master data management & strategic product attribution for reporting /analytics
  • Global Key Item Planning
  • Strong partnership with Global Inventory Planning team
  • Establish key planning deliverables and timelines in conjunction with key financial deliverables.
  • Partner with in region planning teams to assist with ATS, transfers and rebalancing of Inventory among the regions to increase turns and reduce overall WOC
  • Drive financial results that maximize revenue, gross margin, inventory turn goals and minimize excess inventory.
  • Consistently track and improve process design, rigor and discipline around planning and inventory buying, as well as inventory management and tracking
  • Commercial analysis and insights


EDUCATION & PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED

  • 4+ years experience in retail planning & allocation, or in global planning
  • Vertical retail experience, preferably in retail or ecommerce.
  • Strong analytical skills paired with strategic business acumen and application
  • Detail-oriented, results-driven, highly motivated, and entrepreneurial
  • Ability to negotiate with and influence peers, members of a cross-functional team and senior management.
  • Executive presence and acumen, ability to formally present business strategies and action plans.
