Job Description

This is a fantastic and unique opportunity for a Womenswear and Homeware Buyer (Maternity Cover) to work in-house for an independent, London-based, multi-brand store.

We are looking for an experienced Womenswear and Homeware Buyer with a great eye and high administrative and organisational skills. You will work very closely with the Creative Director to oversee the buying budget, selection and strategy across womenswear and homeware. As well as working within a small, friendly company, you will have the opportunity to work closely with both the e-commerce and retail teams.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Working very closely with the Creative Director, you will oversee the buying budget, selection and strategy across Womenswear, Homeware & Beauty.
  • Attending buying appointments, trade shows and trips abroad, with travel required as necessary. Organising the logistics of seasonal buying trips: travel, accommodation, timetable for showrooms and trade fairs.
  • Sourcing new designers, proactively seeking out opportunities to stock unique product throughout the year, in-keeping with the style and ethos of the Couverture brand.
  • Liaising as main point of contact with suppliers by phone, email and in-person, for all orders and deliveries.
  • Building upon existing relationships with suppliers and designers, while forging new ones. Negotiating favourable terms with suppliers and ensure these are adhered to.
  • Producing and analysing sales reports to support Buying & Merchandising decisions, identifying key products for E-Commerce, PR and Store Managers. Contributing to budget planning, forecasting and markdown strategy.
  • Managing the full EPOS process, from entering purchase orders to inputting all deliveries to the EPOS system.
  • Maintaining awareness of competitor activity, both online and within the West London area.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • You have experience as a Womenswear Buyer in a fast-paced environment
  • You have high taste levels and market sensibility appropriate to the brand
  • You are able to plan, forecast and work to buying budgets
  • You are detail orientated with excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • You can take ownership of all assigned projects and use your own initiative
  • You can multi-task, juggle and prioritise several different projects at once
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You love working with people and are enthusiastic, with a can-do attitude
