Over the past decade, founder Ben Clymer and team have grown HODINKEE into a robust media and retail platform by providing its respected point of view on industry news and releases, investing in engaging and creative storytelling, producing a designated podcast, printing a bi-annual publication and launching and growing its own retail outlet, HODINKEE Shop. At its core, HODINKEE’s goal is to bring its readers and consumers the best in wristwatches in a way that is approachable, authentic, and honest.

HODINKEE is looking for a Merchandising Assistant to support the Vintage, Modern Watches, and Accessories categories.


What You Will do

The HODINKEE Shop Merchandising Assistant is responsible for providing operational support to our buying teams by owning all data entry responsibilities and data maintenance including purchase orders, POS, and daily sales information. The position requires strong operational acumen and an understanding of basic merchandising. This role requires support for acquiring vendor samples and maintaining vendor contact information. Fundamental requirements include the ability to collaborate, take ownership of your business, and achieve results.
 

Inventory Management

  • Leverage collaborative partnerships with counterparts to drive business strategies
  • Manage style maintenance, department/category/class updates, SKU updates, and inventory position with the direction of the buying team
  • Manage
  • Update system to reflect appropriate information for ordered merchandise
  • Maintain on order (i.e. ship/cancel dates, cost, and retail etc.) to ensure adherence to plan and ship windows communicated to vendors and partners
  • Request, acquire, and return samples to vendors
  • Review daily sales with the buying team and take action accordingly
  • Develop strong relationships with vendor partners & maintain vendor contact information
  • Aptitude to function within deadlines, while working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Assist with generating reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure product readiness online
  • Facilitate SKUS through the product life cycle by communicating with Creative, Marketing, Fulfillment, Operations, and Customer Experience teams as needed

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Collaborative, consultative style with a strong ability to establish trust and build relationships across all levels and functions of the organization
  • Comfortable and effective at developing strong partnerships with internal and external partners.
  • Experience working with luxury goods such as watches, jewelry, fine art, and/or leather goods
  • Experience with Shopify and NetSuite a plus
  • Knowledge of wristwatches (both vintage and modern) a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility on the job and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Candidates must possess authorization to work in the U.S.
