DATA

We're a Data team that does it all: big data engineering, machine learning, and deep-dive analytics and insight. We're a diverse, global team who create Data solutions to provide an unrivalled customer experience. Whether it's churning gigabytes of ecommerce data, using AI to recommend the latest trends, or understanding our customers better than anyone else, we use data to promote FARFETCH's growth.

LISBON

Our Lisbon office is located in Portugal's cosmopolitan capital. Mostly the teams here are focused around Technology and Store of the Future. In this office, Farfetchers like to have catch ups in the ball pit or creative moments by the grand piano!

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our global effort in Machine Learning applied to Marketing. We want to automate Marketing operations, applying our understanding of the customers to improve the way we communicate with them across multiple channels. We are looking to optimise our marketing mix, improving its reach and effectiveness and making sure that low-cost channels (e.g. emails, push notifications) are developed to provide the maximum value to the business - whilst still using other channels (e.g. Retargeting, Paid Social) to reach other pools of customers. Reporting to the Lead Data Scientist of the Marketing Data Science team, you'll be part of a pragmatic team who picks whatever technique is appropriate for the task at hand (including Deep Learning, Gradient Boosting, Graph Modelling, Recommender Systems, etc.), keeping an eye to what is happening in academia and in the industry to stay on top of recent developments. We work with large volumes of data, in Python running on a Kubernetes cluster in Google Cloud.

WHO YOU ARE

    • Design and develop state-of-the-art ML algorithms focusing in particular on customer behavioural models and models around pricing and supply, including the automation/optimisation aspect;
    • Design and implement experimentation around PC projects to measure the impact on business indicators and retrieve data for model building;
    • Work together with the engineering team to productionise and integrate ML algorithms into our backend or connect them to third-party tools;
    • Communicate complex solutions in a clear and understandable way to both experts and non-experts.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

    • You have a degree in Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics or another quantitative discipline;
    • You have relevant industry experience in a Machine Learning or Data Science role (exposure to Marketing or Loyalty problems is a bonus)
    • Experience in Python software development (production-grade code, including code reviews, agile development, version control, etc.) and familiar with ML/scientific packages (e.g. Pandas, numpy, scipy, scikit-learn, gensim, keras, TensorFlow, PyMC3, PyStan, nltk, and spacy)
    • You have experience using state-of-the-art ML techniques in a business setting, such as Bayesian modelling, neural networks, graph ML, reinforcement learning, etc.

REWARDS & BENEFITS

    • Health insurance for the whole family, flexible working environment and well-being support and tools
    • Extra days off, sabbatical program and days for you to give back for the community
    • Training opportunities and free access to Udemy
    • Flexible benefits program
    • FARFETCH Equity plan
