JOB SUMMARY

Assist with the development of trims and embellishments, primarily focusing on RTW - Sweaters, Knits & Wovens - with cross over for Accessories, Footwear & Tory Sport as needed.

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITY

- Assist in the embellishment & trim development in every stage - from concept, sending specs, technical drawing approval, receiving hand samples & revisions/approvals at all levels, ready dates, costing & testing (Proto, SMS & Bulk)

- Research embellishment, hardware & soft trim concepts looking for new materials, functionality & trends to present the Design Teams each season

- Build and maintain core trim boards and seasonal concept inspiration boards.

- Maintain development charts each season to track costing, ready dates & testing & enter all new trim developments into PDM

- Assist with the embellishment & trim development calendar to be sure mock ups, panels, & samples are launched in time to meet all milestones during early development, Proto, SMS & bulk stages

- Work closely with the trim and embellishment suppliers on all developments & communicate on a daily basis for design approvals, design comments and revisions

- Work closely and communicate daily with PD team on each level of trim & embellishment development thru bulk production approval including allocation for embellishments

- Work closely with the NYPR on any in-house samples that will need to be launched overseas. Partner with the NYPR to order & develop trims to apply to garments locally

- Track embellishment & trim adoption rates seasonally

- Oversee the organization of the trim librarywith the Hardware PD Manager & Assistant

EDUCATION & PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED
  • 2-3 years of experience in a Designer / Contemporary brand; experience with trimmings & hardware a plus.
  • An understanding of the importance of teamwork and the concept of support infrastructure in the execution of deliverables
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high end environment and to partner with internal & cross functional teams to identify and resolve problems
  • Understanding of workflow and inevitable changes in daily needs based on priority
  • Experience / familiarity with Excel and PDM/PLM Centric systems a plus
  • Ability to function under tight / high pressure deadlines and an understanding of calendars and drop dead dates
