This is an exciting opportunity to join the young and dynamic team at Sister Jane and participate in the growth and development of the brand. 

We are looking for a strong creative candidate with 1-3 years of design experience within a contemporary or high street brand, who is able to work in a fast-paced environment and span across areas of design, production and development of the brand.

The Design Assistant will work across the Sister Jane, DREAM Sister Jane, and GHOSPELL ranges and support the design team for trend, research and technical aspects of the garment, demonstrating commercial awareness and understanding of shape, colour, fabric, print and customers demand. 

The Design Assistant will assist to bring new and exciting ranges that maintain our leading edge. 

The Design Assistant would have the ability and understanding to assist the designers to translate the complete design process to final production.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the Designer and Product Director designing and delivering 8 trend oriented commercial capsule collections per range
  • Presentation of ideas and designs to management through visuals, mood boards and research
  • Identify key trends and must have items for the season as well as fulfill creative leads and ideas
  • Work on range in a systematic way
  • Develop and contribute to sourcing new trims, fabrics and product categories. This would involve travels to producing countries. 
  • Work closely with sales and merchandise to understand success and longevity of current and future styles
  • Work closely with production to understand shipping and lead times for sampling and production
  • Support the work with suppliers, factories and agents to assure seamless translation of design into sample/production throughout each season.
  • Take part and lead fittings for both sampling and production to assure the product is of the highest quality
  • Understand pricing, work closely with the team on budgets for design, development, and production. Stay within agreed budgets.
     

Profile:

  • The ideal candidate would have gained 1-3 years of relevant design and production experience in a contemporary or fast fashion retail brand
  • Creative excellence

  • Strong team working, organisation and communication skills
  • Eager to take responsibilities and take initiative
  • Fluency of English written and oral is a requisite
  • Fluency in additional languages is desirable
  • Hours and days of work will need to be flexible and role might require an element of international travel
