You will join the team responsible for Zalando's AI-fueled online marketing. Since Spring 2018 we grew from 20 to over 60 applied scientists, engineers and product managers to revamp our marketing with AI in a world of increasing user privacy.

This position is an opportunity to have a strong and immediate impact: we are autonomously conducting experiments to check hypotheses with scientific rigor and pragmatism, and roll-out successful ones. WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
  • Problem Framing: Online marketing comes with complex and ambiguous challenges related to the main two questions: how to measure performance? how to invest optimally? --under various constraints such as data privacy, which makes creativity and analytical thinking among the most valuable skills in order to properly frame our problems and define relevant KPIs
  • Problem Solving: our challenges require creativity combined with expertise from various domains, including time series forecasting, causal inference, online learning, statistics, econometrics
  • Software Development: beyond the specific knowledge about ML libraries and frameworks (TensorFlow, Pytorch, Sagemaker, Databricks, Spark, sklearn), we want to reinforce software engineering best practices in the team in order to further improve the time-to-market and quality of our deliveries

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • M.Sc (or higher) in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Physics)
  • Real-World experience or academic background in Machine Learning
  • Experience in turning uncertainty and ambiguity into deterministic roadmaps with specific milestones
  • Customer-obsession: ability to integrate stakeholders needs into well-defined KPIs
