Job Description

Reporting to the to HR Director, Asia South, the HR Manager is responsible for people management practices to enhance organisational effectiveness and to actively support the achievement of business objectives and growth of DFS talent pool. Ensures the delivery of Human Resources policies, practices and activities to the store level to support and achieve store business objectives. Also responsible for executing and managing the compensation and benefits strategies, HR Administration, Employee engagement initiatives and legislative compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

•Establish strong partnership with business clients/internal customers to remain aligned with current business issues and opportunities, as related to compensation and benefits, employee engagement and human resources administration.
•Advise and consult the business on Policy, Procedure and Guidelines, including ensuring that policies are adhered to
•Maintain awareness and knowledge of employment related legislation and appropriately communicates and advises on implications to the operation.
•Provide ongoing human resource advice to the management teams and employees.
•Conduct annual review of existing wage/compensation policies for their relevance and effectiveness.
•Partner with Global Reward & Mobility on expatriate administration, including work visas, temporary housing, family relocation matters and orientation schedules.
•Manage employee benefits, including medical, allowances etc., to ensure legislation compliance and market relevance.
•Oversee the day-to-day administrative support and drive fundamental processes of human resources such as HR Connect, travel & expenses requests and claims, filing, etc. to ensure administrative efficiency.
•Formulate fair and equitable guidelines on employee counseling and discipline through effective management of grievances and providing appropriate advice to line management on staff disciplinary actions.
•Provide support and education on performance management for line management
•Make effective and quality recommendations in the recruitment or promotion of managers liaising where necessary with outside providers.
•Work closely with the Management team to identify, recognise, develop and retain individual talent within DFS.
•Construct, monitor and effectively manage the HR budget providing updates to HRD Asia South and appropriate senior management on key issues as required.
• Lead the communication, alignment and implementation of learning and development related initiatives across the Division, in support of DFS business goals and strategic objectives.

Key Requirements:

•Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Management, Business or equivalent required
•Previous experience as HR Generalist or related business experience
•Minimum 5-7 years' experience
•Ability to manage a team
•Strong understanding of Australian employment legislation/practices
•Solutions Based, energetic, team oriented, ability to multi-task, composed under pressure
•Effective leadership skills and ability to work with a diverse employee/customer groups
•Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, high pressure environment
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Proficiency in MS Microsoft computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and email is essential
