Events Associate

Overview

The Business of Fashion is seeking an enthusiastic, versatile and driven Events Associate to be part of our small, but high-functioning Events team. Comfortable working across both digital and physical event formats, you will have experience working in a fast-paced environment on multiple tasks at once and be confident delivering your work and discussing your ideas. This is an exciting opportunity to join an incredible team with the overall goal of becoming the global leader in the market for professional content and services for the fashion and beauty industries.

Who Are We?

The Business of Fashion (BoF) is a next generation fashion media company conceived for today's global and hyper-connected world. Founded in 2007 by Imran Amed, BoF is known for its authoritative, agenda-setting point of view on the global fashion industry, described as “The Economist of Fashion,” “A Daily Destination for Fashion’s Power Players” and “The Industry Bible.”

Providing tools and services to support the journey through the fashion and beauty industries, including News & Analysis, Careers, and Education, BoF has grown to be an indispensable resource for fashion executives, creatives, students and entrepreneurs in over 200 countries.

Commitment to Diversity

BoF is committed to building a diverse workforce and we are proud to be an Equal Opportunities employer. All applicants and employees receive equal treatment regardless of race, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or beliefs, sex or sexual orientation, gender, age, disability, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity.

Commitment to Inclusivity

BoF is committed to building an inclusive environment where everyone can bring their authentic selves to work and reach their full potential within their roles using a growth mindset. We are committed to creating an inclusive culture for our employees globally.

Who You Are

You are an enthusiastic and incredibly organised Events Associate on the upward curve of your career. You work with a high degree of professionalism and integrity and have an operational mindset. Experience in the fashion industry is not a prerequisite, however the successful candidate will have a passion for the global fashion industry and thorough attention to detail and nuance. Outside of that, you will have the following skills that will help set you up for success:

  • Experience working on both digital and physical events
  • Excellent customer service, hospitality and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organisational skills, verbal, and written communications
  • High performance under pressure and a strong sense of accountability
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude, flexibility and creative thinking
  • Familiarity with digital events platforms (e.g., Zoom Webinar, Bizzabo)
  • Microsoft Office, MailChimp, Typeform, Survey Monkey proficiency (or similar)

What We Need You To Do

As an integrated and highly organised member of the Events team, you’ll work closely with the Special Relations Senior Manager and other key stakeholders to help deliver weekly BoFLive events and larger-scale franchise events such as BoF’s quarterly digital summits and our flagship event VOICES. You’ll be responsible for successfully managing key logistical components that will deliver on the success of events.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Work with the Special Relations Senior Manager in managing speaker and guest relations including speaker briefs and release forms
  • Co-hosting regular BoFLive sessions with Special Relations Senior Manager, ensuring events are run smoothly and assets are delivered for post-production in an efficient manner
  • Maintaining an up-to-date content calendar with scheduled and prospective events
  • Setting up the weekly webinar events on Zoom, including registration pages and YouTube integration
  • Coordinate with key internal stakeholders (e.g. BoF’s studio) on deliverables and deadlines
  • Work with senior members of the events team in liaising with vendors and suppliers and in allocating cross-functional team roles and developing internal training materials
  • Building detailed project plans and managing internal calendars
  • Working with BoF’s Marketing team on event communications scheduling and content

You’ll Know You’re Successful When...

  • Weekly and major franchise events are delivered efficiently and effectively, all while providing a premium service to VIPs, speakers, guests and delegates alike
  • Hiccups are practically non-existent due to your high attention to detail but, if they do occur, your ‘in-event’ troubleshooting skills and ability to perform well under pressure negate issues quickly to revert to a non-impacted, highly professional experience
  • Event feedback from VIPs, speakers, guests, delegates and the BoF Team is outstanding
