Job Details

Strathberry is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead all aspects of our production processes. This role will operate from our Head Office in Edinburgh and has the core objectives of coordinating production with workshops and suppliers, ensuring deliveries are on time and that product quality meets Strathberry's high standards. This is a demanding role, and presents an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic business with ambitions for further growth. 

Key Responsibilities

Planning 

  • Managing ongoing production with Strathberry’s workshops in Spain and multiple suppliers. Ensuring that production is on schedule for the agreed dates and reviewing and updating the critical path, as necessary.
  • Dealing with, and planning for, fluctuations in production requirements, and reviewing key delivery targets for the upcoming season with the Wholesale, Retail and PR teams.

Communication

  • Communicating with the workshops daily and addressing any challenges. 
  • Leading the weekly production team meetings, ensuring that design and production schedules remain aligned and on target, and that any potential delays or changes are communicated to the relevant teams.
  • Ensuring that information and packaging orders sent to workshops are accurate and on time.

Supplier Management & Quality Control

  • Managing ongoing relationships with supply partners.
  • Ongoing assessment of existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers, also ensuring that high CSR standards are met.
  • Coordinating all material testing with external testing houses, and gathering feedback on product wear trials.
  • Overseeing the relationship with our quality control partners, determining quality control standards and ensuring that the highest quality is maintained.
  • Coordinating annual audits of workshops and main suppliers.

Procurement

  • Managing procurement of raw materials - analysing requirements for the season, raising purchase orders with suppliers, negotiating best prices, and managing lead times and transport with each supplier. 
  • Coordinating packaging requirements and continually assessing their suitability for existing and new products, whilst ensuring that sustainability principles are met.

Cost management

  • Ensuring production budgets are set and achieved. 
  • Invoice management and liaison with finance team.
  • Ensuring accurate production data is entered promptly into the Zedonk system.
  • Continually reviewing the most cost-effective suppliers for materials and transport.  
  • Reviewing detail of invoices and products received and challenging any variances with the supplier/ manufacturer.

Product Optimisation

  • Looking at areas of opportunity based on material stock, key sellers and market trends and liaising with the merchandising and Sales/E-commerce teams to organise top-up and pre-orders, as required.


Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a production management role.
  • Outstanding organisational and planning skills, adept at balancing multiple, and often changing, priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able communicate effectively across departments.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong Excel knowledge.
  • Confident to question and challenge information and suppliers, and actively seek improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Works calmly under pressure.
  • Experience in the production of leather goods and within a luxury retail brand is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience using Zedonk is desirable, but not essential.
