Product Development Director, Footwear
Qualifications:
- More than 12 years experience in Footwear/Accessories development
- Extensive experience in women’s dress footwear required
- Proven ability to be both a strategic problem solver and exacting process manager
- Interest in rolling sleeves up and getting into the details
- Innate entrepreneur - ability to create process from scratch, and adapt on the fly
- Problem-solver extraordinaire - always sees paths to a solution, serves up options
- Inspiring leader - builds and motivates a dynamic team of product developers
- Star communicator - excels at clear, concise and solution-oriented communication
Responsibilities:
Process
- Establishes and ensures adherence to development time and action calendar, but able flex and adapt when necessary
- Oversees immaculate maintenance of all systems, files, processes
- Creates and maintains reliable sources of truth for all relevant information on product details, deadlines
- Maintains systems to track budgets for protos, sample materials, equipment, and courier shipments
- Manages seamless pass off to Production Manager at PO stage
Product Development
- Leads all rounds of fittings
- Technical expert on the team providing guidance/problem-solving support to developers and design
- Oversees communication with agency/vendors as necessary to execute against Tech Packs, Corrections
- Partners with Design and agent to achieve target cost
- Partners with Material Manager to trial new fabrications, execute R&D samples as needed
- Maintains accuracy of full approved equipment library, both at HQ and at agent’s office
Fit/Quality
- Responsible for target return rate achievement
- Establishes and monitors fit standard and grade scale
- Oversees fit model casting as needed
- Review jump sets/FSR feedback as necessary to assess grading
Costs/Budget Management
- Responsible for First Cost Gross Margin target achievement
- Responsible for adherence to development budget, managing invoice tracking/approval
