The chosen candidate will be responsible for taking on a leadership role in financial decision-making that affects our company, and will provide strategic financial input to senior management. While keenly overseeing the overall accounting process, the successful Director of Finance will play a key role in developing and implementing financial procedures to improve and maintain the financial health of TKEES.

The ideal candidate is an excellent leader and has a can-do attitude; ready to roll up their sleeves creating new structures, reporting, and financial controls that are essential to the success and viability of TKEES’ future.

Responsibilities 

  • Execute the financial strategy of the company 
  • Takes ownership of current and future forecasts (including capital, facilities, and staff requirements) 
  • Manage financial controls and accounting procedures 
  • Guides and advises on the financial impact of the company’s strategy and its goals 
  • Ensures full transparency over the financial performance of the company 
  • Provide advice on how to increase revenue and reduce costs 
  • Identify and effectively communicate existing and potential risks to the CEO and senior leadership team 
  • Propose and create action plans to ensure annual financial objectives are attained 
  • Support the CEO and other departments with the preparation of monthly and annual financial plans 
  • Coordinate and produce all tax documentation in Canada, US, and other countries, as required 
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization 
  • Supervise all finance personnel

Qualifications 

  • CA or CPA designation (MBA or Master’s degree in Finance preferred) 
  • 8+ years’ experience in a senior financial managerial position (CFO, VP, or Director of finance, preferred) 
  • Experience within a mid-sized company addressing issues of organic growth, acquisitions and scaling operations, preferred 
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting practices and procedures, financial principles and concepts. 
  • Strong financial management experience. Ability to navigate through complex financial models to maximize results 
  • Results-focused, entrepreneurial and innovative, with a sense of urgency 
  • Exceptional communication skills (ability to communicate effectively both with internal and external stakeholders) 
  • A strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, strong operational focus and a creative thinker 
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Excel, Quickbooks, and other applications including SAP and/or NetSuite 
  • High degree of integrity and emotional intelligence
