APPARATUS is New York-based design studio that explores the relationship of lighting, furniture and objects in immersive environments, threading the historical and the cultural through a modern lens.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accountable for all aspects of showroom operations to ensure delivery of the best possible client experience.
  • Provide senior leadership and manage the LA-based accounts team.
  • Partner with VP of Sales to ensure successful team performance to sales targets.
  • Develop and maintain the highest level of aesthetic and technical knowledge about the APPARATUS collections, customization options and specifications.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with preferred vendors for ongoing support of tech, cleaning, parking, shipping, etc. and escalate any issues as needed.
  • Accountable for implementation and upkeep of HQ policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for inventory and supply management, maintaining budgets and tracking expenses.
  • Oversee order flow to ensure accurate and timely information is being shared and received.
  • Work with accounts team to understand client needs and provide solutions, escalating to VP of Sales and Senior Director of Sales as needed.
  • Develop deep understanding and utilization of internal technology tools to monitor multiple lines of business, track revenue and liaise with production and HQ sales.
  • Plan and staff special events and projects as needed.
  • Effectively monitor and communicate updated order timelines, possible delays and deliveries to relevant team members and/or clients.
  • Provide an elevated showroom experience by managing phones and guest reception and providing studio tours.
  • Partner with Senior Director of Sales to direct client experience and maintain the upkeep of visual standards.
  • Partner with NY Studio to facilitate showroom updates, events, and repairs.

SKILLS

  • Clear and concise verbal and written skills and desire to learn brand ethos to lead a team focused on people-first and client experience.
  • Knowledge and interest of interior design, architecture and textiles.
  • Able to foster open communication, accept delegation, manage up, effectively respond to feedback and proactive in seeking support and help when needed.
  • Strong aesthetic skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent time-management skills, independent drive and the ability to work well under pressure or in the midst of competing priorities. 
  • Solutions-based thinker with a consistently positive attitude, displayed both as an individual and within a collaborative team of peers, directors and VPs.
  • Desire to be a part of a small team, flexible, and has the ability to pivot as needed to accomplish company goals.
  • Ability to respond professionally to critical feedback and proactive in seeking support.
  • Proven record of attracting, developing, and retaining talented people.
  • Able to be trusted with sensitive, confidential and proprietary information.

EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience, with minimum 5-6 years sales experience in the interior design industry and/or with luxury products.
  • Prior experience managing both a building and a team in a similar leadership role.
  • Experience working with a variety of clients and stakeholders with a high value placed on elevated service. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively; ability to delegate and drive for results.
  • Proven ability in a high-paced environment that values consistency, efficiency and excellence.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Full-time showroom hours: Monday–Friday.
  • Longer hours and weekend availability as needed.
  • Domestic and international travel as needed.

PERFORMANCE REVIEW AND CHECK-INS SCHEDULE

  • Weekly 1:1s.
  • Annual performance review.
