Reporting to the Creative Director and based in the Sydney Head Office, this role will contribute and support the delivery of Zimmermann collections alongside the Design Team.

Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, sourcing & inspiration:
    • Extensively research creative ideas, source reference material and provide input on the key design elements of each Ready-to-Wear and Swim & Resort season under the Creative Director's direction 
  • Drawing & artwork:
    • Assist the Creative Director and Senior Design Directors to formulate cornerstone ideas and pieces that distinguish each season
    • Hand drawings and technical drawings for pattern maker and production use
  • Samples:
    • Communicate and give the pattern makers direction to ensure understanding of design proportions and finishes
    • Provide input into the development and production of the sample ranges for press and sales
    • Attend fittings and collaborate with Senior Design Directors, Product Development team and pattern makers for adherence to quality and brand standards
  • Management & administration:
    • Collaborate in the design process, from inception to finalization, under the label's Creative Director and with some guidance from Senior Design Directors

Skills & Specifications:

  • A fashion design degree from a respected Australian or international institution and have achieved outstanding results in both course work and in external competitions
  • 5+ years’ experience as a designer with nationally or internationally recognized luxury or retail brands
  • Experience in a similar role OR previously owned their own label
  • An understanding and connection with the Zimmermann brand aesthetic
  • The ability to demonstrate outstanding creative instincts and a distinct point of view
  • Advanced Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign skills (essential)
  • Excellent hand and technical drawing ability
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both senior team members and lead junior team
