The Position:

The main objective is to elevate the denim DNA in our core collection and be also a strong support in all denim fashion development to allow Tommy Jeans and Calvin Klein Jeans to be a denim leader in the market. 

You will work closely with the denim technical tailor and Tommy for Life production to develop and produce remixed/repurposed products each season

You will report into the denim technical tailor and work closely with Denim Academy Manager and laser graphic developers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Working within an intimate team, this position is vital to enhance and elevate the denim for the Tommy for Life product sampling denim garments, develop new shapes and details together with the denim designers
• You must be able to create and elaborate sewing techniques and construction in the atelier at proto stage and ensure industrialization step
• Executes and responsible for basic alteration services (i.e. Hemming, patch and repair, tapering etc.)
• Partner with the designers, technical and pattern department together with the Denim Technical Tailor to learn creating patterns, mock-ups and samples
• In close relationship with Tommy for Life team you will create unique REMIXED product developments and production
• With your team, be aware of all incoming volumes and production each season
• Connect with suppliers to have trims and denim available at all times within the Denim Atelier
• With the Denim Academy Manager/Lab Coordinator and Denim Technical Tailor, drive detailed long and short-term production scheduling to optimize Denim Atelier efficiency

The Ideal Candidate:

• College degree in Textiles
• 3+ year of work experience in Denim Atelier environment.
• Team player with a hands-on mentality
• Knows how to working under pressure and to deadlines
• A creative with an eye for details in our denim washes
• Excellent knowledge of denim chemicals, wash processes, wet and dry processes, also comfortable with new technologies as Laser, Ozone machines.
• Advanced experience with factory machinery that are specialized in making denim garments, such as jeans, denim jackets, denim shirts etc., we also have machinery to alter non-denim garment, such as shirts, jersey or outerwear.  Such as:
  • Single stich, 3/4/5 thread overlock, beltloop, bartack, button hole, darning, heat transfer, embroidery, hemming and double transport stitching machines.
• High level of attention to detail needed for branded product.
• Good understanding of constructions and Denim fabrics.
• Creative with fresh new ideas, with ability to be creative within commercial restraints.
• Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• A fast and organized seamstress to cope with the fast pace environments.
• Excellent communication skills, fluency in written and spoken English are a must.
• Creates partnership and able to work within a diverse team.
