The Team

Buying & Planning team is part of the TH Buying, Planning and Operations department. The Buying & Planning Team plans the seasonal collection buys based on vendor allocation and regional requirements/holidays, within the calendar milestones, 4 times a year. Team ensures the sell in quantities are placed within the vendors, on a timely manner.

The Position
Based in Amsterdam, working closely together with the Buying & Demand Planners the Material Planner is responsible for Raw Material Planning, Commitments and Inventory

Management of these raw materials such as fabrics & trims.  Within the Buying & Demand Planning department of Tommy Hilfiger, based on desired KPI’s.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure continuous planning of materials and trims, lead divisional meetings on fabric booking timelines
  • Close collaboration with PD teams on cross divisional material consolidation
  • Maintaining efficient workflows by creating calendars capturing a general outline of booking dates across seasons and non-seasonal timelines, based on inputs from business stakeholders and vendors
  • Drive efficiency improvement by analyzing fabric usage and material decision processes, pursuing effective structures and ways of working, and drive alignment across Buying & Demand Planning
  • Maintain close relationships with core mills, material suppliers, vendors and key stakeholders
  • Ensure learning and development of Buying & Demand Planning team on fabrics and materials
  • Engage in projects aimed at business development / efficiency improvement, either from a material planning or cross-divisional process alignment perspective
  • Quarterly Mill Performance Reporting
  • Seasonal Material/Fabric Comparison Analysis, and ad-hoc analysis
  • Communication and planning with buying offices, onshore, offshore
  • Oversee and actively reduce seasonal inventory, internal with Merchandising/PD teams/outlet.
  • Identify and proactively resolve any cause of delay related to Mills (quality issues, shipment delays, payment issues)\Liability management; validate and report on seasonal and off seasonal inventory 

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A completed HBO / University degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5-6 years working experience in Material Planning & Analysis field
  • Experience in Fashion industry
  • High level of accuracy.
  • Analytical mind-set
  • Excel skills
  • PLM experience
  • Organized and pro-active working approach
  • Excellent communication skills in English and ability to influence others in a multi-cultural environment
