We are seeking an innovative, strategic leader to elevate one of the key components of our business — our authentication process. Partnering with our technology and product teams, you’ll own the development of a holistic authentication strategy while creating systems to make world-class authentication scalable on a peer-to-peer marketplace. You’ll lead our authentication team in standardizing policies and documentation, as well as clearly communicating authentication policies and processes to customers. As a big-picture thinker with a strong eye for detail, you’ll ensure our pre and post-sale authentication is flawless, ensuring that zero replicas are sold on our marketplace.

Success in this role requires a leader who is well-versed in authentication methods and marks across a wide variety of luxury brands. You must be nimble and a quick learner, adjusting as the market evolves. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated team player, capable of systemizing and designing processes, as well as training and managing a large authentication team. Your do-whatever-it-takes philosophy means you’ll lead high-level strategy and aren’t afraid to get into the weeds when necessary.

This role reports directly to the Director of Operations-Trust and Community

You Will:

  • Serve as the People Manager for the authentication team, setting clear performance expectations and owning their performance 
  • Stay well-versed and maintain a strong understanding of luxury brands and fashion trends 
  • Manage team resources to ensure all items are authenticated throughout the purchase funnel 
  • Manage timesheets and PTO
  • Create robust training and development resources for team members 
  • Own reporting for authentication business metrics 
  • Identify pain points with current tools, training, knowledge and make recommendations for improvement
  • Work collaboratively with the tech and product teams to design tools for the authentication process 
  • Handle all escalated authentication issues 

You Have:

  • 4 years of luxury authentication experience
  • Proven leadership and management skills. You’re adept at giving and synthesizing feedback, managing stakeholders, and managing teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of luxury fashion including handbags, watches, and jewelry with a strong understanding of pricing, and authentication
  • Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams, and present to executives.
  • Ability to design systems and processes for authentication
  • Confidence, tact, patience, politeness, and diplomacy while dealing with complex problems
  • Excellent at managing timelines, and delivering against plans.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop clear reports.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to evolving work-flows and responsibilities
  • Experience in a fast-paced and/or start-up environment (preferred)
