Tradesy is looking for an experienced merchandiser with a deep understanding of fashion and luxury to lead our merchandising function. This role will partner closely with product, design, and marketing to refine our customer experience and create a best-in-class luxury shopping experience. In addition, you’ll become the internal expert on supply and demand, own supply reporting and forecasting, and inform marketing strategy.

Since we’re a peer-to-peer marketplace, we face unique challenges around user generated content, pricing, and inventory breadth. As Head of Merchandising at Tradesy, you’ll build and lead a team to tackle these problems by augmenting listings with tags, pricing data, and expert content, while partnering with engineers and data scientists to create training data for algorithms, and automate manual tasks.

The ideal candidate for this position is data-driven, but understands consumer behavior in luxury. You excel at creating reports and forecasts and managing people and projects, but you also have a passion for fashion and luxury products. If you love luxury and know how to drive demand for aspirational inventory, but also geek out over pricing, tagging, and taxonomy, then this role is perfect for you.

This role will report to the Chief Product Officer, and will build and manage a cross-functional team of luxury fashion experts.

You will:

  • Develop and own the overall merchandising strategy for Tradesy including supply forecasting, on-site merchandising, and reporting.
  • Hire and lead a team of merchandisers to classify, tag, price, and enhance user-generated listings. Develop processes & tools to optimize and automate manual work.
  • Work closely with product, design, and technical teams to optimize our taxonomy, navigation, search results, category page rankings, recommendations, and overall shopping experience.
  • Use internal and external data to quantify supply and demand, and inform marketing strategy and supply acquisition.
  • Partner with marketing to identify promotional opportunities, support content creation, and ensure consistency between brand strategy and on-site merchandising.
  • Work with marketing and business development teams to identify supply opportunities and drive supply acquisition.

You have:

  • 10+ years in merchandising or buying for fashion ecommerce.
  • 5+ years of management experience, and the ability to manage with metrics.
  • Deep and broad knowledge of fashion and luxury brands and products.
  • Strong analytical and forecasting skills.
  • Experience working with product and technical teams to develop and improve tooling and optimize user experience.
  • Understanding of taxonomy and metadata.
  • Experience in luxury is preferred.
