JOB SUMMARY

The Designer Trim & Hardware is responsible for the research and development of trends, themes, concepts, techniques and materials relevant to defining the Tory Burch trim & hardware for the Ready to Wear division.

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for entire trim & hardware design process, from market research, conceptual presentations to Tory and SVPs of Design, design and execution of swatches and design and execution of selected trim & hardware for SMS.
  • Responsible for calendar adherence throughout the entire development process.
  • Develop, demonstrate, and maintain a strong knowledge of target market demands, customers, and brand objectives.
  • Partner with Design teammates to develop elements appropriate to the various product and line-plan needs.
  • Partner with external global vendors to execute developments of seasonal collections and collaborations.
  • Work closely with PD partner on allocation of work to appropriate factories, advance development of costing options for SMS.
  • Responsible for continuous flow of new concepts and new materials, to be always thinking how to move the category forward for the brand.


EDUCATION & PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Fashion, Textiles or Surface Pattern Design
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant design experience within trim or hardware
  • Strong computer knowledge including Rhino, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft Excel.
  • Previous experience with 3D printing preferred
  • Ability to hand sketch
  • Strong design and conceptual skills; strong sense of style, color and taste level. Jewelry, sculpture experience a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of technical trim & hardware design development techniques and commercialization
  • Previous luxury apparel experience preferred.
  • Global viewpoint, cultural sensitivity, and adaptability a must.
  • Strong communication and collaboration with cross functional partners required; ability and influence to drive change
