Our online store channel enables our core merchants to model, run, and grow their business, and attracts the best developers to build the highest converting themes. We are opinionated, collaborative, inclusive, driven, and fully remote with team members across North America.
The ideal candidate is an experienced UX Manager who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with complex, interconnected problems. You're able to set UX goals, direction and strategy that empowers your team with clarity and purpose. You build trust-based relationships across disciplines and leverage diverse perspectives to deeply understand and improve how your team ships impactful work.

Responsibilities
- Providing UX leadership across the definition, design, launch, and maintenance stages of Shopify's first-party themes
- Defining and upholding UX standards for all themes within the marketplace, including those created by Shopify partners
- Helping to define our online store roadmap and theme portfolio strategy by understanding and advocating for the needs of our developers and merchants
- Identifying the right problems to solve and championing research, prototyping, and iterative shipping as part of the process
- Working closely with product and engineering teams at the cutting edge of global-scale internet applications
- Coaching and leading individuals across all UX disciplines (Product Research, Design, and Content Strategy).
- Helping to build out the UX discipline within the Online Store team, while connecting to the rich UX community across Shopify
Qualifications
- A track record of creating beautiful UX as a creative and visual product leader
- Experience leading a team in a multidisciplinary UX environment. Ours includes research, design, and content strategy
- Expert knowledge of the end-to-end iterative product design process, including how to develop and use personas, job stories, journey mapping, content modelling, wireframing and prototyping, user testing, and high fidelity visuals
- Deep experience with driving and applying user-centered design processes across design, content strategy, and research while working with cross-functional teams including development, and product management
- A deep empathy for the user and a desire to learn as much as possible about how they build and manage applications at Shopify
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills; you have the ability to help your team and stakeholders understand the "why" behind your design rationale
